Only a Matter of Time...

Well, it was only a matter of time after Tennessee passed Firearms Freedom Act at the beginning of June before ATF tried to test it.

Here's a link to the full story:

I wonder if there are any courts that are willing to uphold the Constitution any more?

A Simple Choice

Right now I'm ready to lose my mind over the health care debate. I honestly don't even see how there is a debate. There is not ONE single country with government run health care that is considered world-class.

Simple question. If you had a serious illness, would you like a Dr. that was free to charge what he felt he could get paid for the level of care he provided, based on his own reputation and knowledge? Or would you prefer a Dr. that was told a maximum amount he could charge, a standard treatment that was allowed in a system where the brightest minds had chosen not to practice medicine since they could earn more in many other fields?

I know what choice I'd make, what about you?

Why No Posting?

It's not like there is any lack of material for me to post, just the opposite. I've been in a constant state of outrage since about.....last November.

I've never been one for keeping quiet... So it's time to start blogging again.

Considering the Ill-Considered Flyover at Ground Zero

Yes, I know... a ton has already been written the recent flyover ground zero by Air Force One and 2 F-16 fighter jets, but I still feel the need to comment.

First - The insensitivity of the action astounds me. Was there no one involved in planning this event that considered the visual to those on the ground? Did no one bring up a concern for the public response to a Boeing 747 buzzing Manhattan? Even when I watch clips on YouTube it seems surreal.

Second - At a time when our country is in such financial chaos the administration needs glamor shots of Air Force One in New York? For what possible purpose? Ever hear of photoshop?

Finally - As information began to trickle out on the planning of this flyover, it became clear that the administration DID get warned that this could cause public panic. At that point the NYPD was told to keep it quiet.

In the end, $328,835 was spent to take a few photos and terrorize citizens. Not all 'Change' is good change...

Souter to retire

One of the things I suggested my students do after the election was to pray for the health of the Supreme Court Justices. I truly was not being sarcastic, but genuinely concerned about the direction the court would head under such liberal President.

Well, health doesn't seem to be the issue (although we do not really know) Souter has made public his retirement. While Souter was nominated by George H.W. Bush he has leaned further and further left. Unfortunately I think his replacement will not only be FURTHER left, but based on the President's recent comments, a judicial activist.

I detest judicial activism. The Constitution is NOT a living document. The Supreme Court's primary goal is not empathy and identification with every demographic, but to uphold the Constitution.

Keep the prayers going for the rest!

Some more crowd shots of Franklin, TN Tea Party

This was such a great crowd of friendly people. Funny to think that DHS considers them dangerous. I felt COMPLETELY safe!

We not only opened in Prayer, the National Anthem and the Pledge but later we sang America the Beautiful while the sun was setting. This is what MY AMERICA looks like!

Some More Great Signs at Franklin Tea Party

Franklin, TN Tea Party 4-15-09 6PM

It was great that the Nashville Tea Party and the Franklin one were scheduled far enough apart to allow me a quick trip home to recharge the video camera and download some pics off my memory card!

Franklin's Tea Party was also VERY well attended! It spilled over into each road (and two alleys) leading out of the square. The people were GREAT! The speakers were GREAT!

I'm including some pics here and still editing video!

Some People Just Don't Get It

The MSM is determined to downplay the importance of Wednesday's Tea Parties around the country. Even living in a conservative area of the Bible Belt our local television stations barely covered the event.

I hope this also encourages conservatives to action. The liberals have understood that cultivating the media, the public school system and higher education would give them an advantage, we conservatives have not done enough to get the message out & educate others.

Personally, I find that when I talk one on one with others, there is so much confusion about the policies behind the politics and their long range effects. It is an education issue. People of ALL ages now seem ignorant of our history, unaware of the effects of certain legislation and downright duped by the media's biased and lazy reporting of world events.

This week, I have two challenges for you:
1. Start a new book. Increase your own education in history, politics, biographies, etc. There area ton of great writers with great books out right now. Two current faves - Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg or Liberty & Tyranny by Mark Levin.

2. Engage someone in a REAL political conservation. Discuss your beliefs and ask about theirs. Do your best to get past the surface and dig in deep! You may learn something or inform them!

More signs from concerned patriots.

Some more sights from the Nashville Tea Party

How Big Was the Crowd

There seems to be a lot of debate over the size of the crowd, but according to Capitol Police, it was approximately 9800. So the 10,000 number being used seems pretty accurate, knowing that many came and went through their lunch hour.

It was an amazing experience to be in such a diverse group of people with a common concern; the future of our Republic. I was especially thrilled to see entire families in attendance. This is what we need.

I've included some of my personal photos that I believe help express the 'feeling' of the event. I wasn't high enough up to get good overhead photos, but I was on the ground and able to capture faces, signs and emotions!

Starting my Conservative Blog - Kick off with Tea Parties!

Above are photos of my 3 youngest at the Tea Party!

Just starting a new blog. I blog about gardening and teaching, etc. but its time for something more political!
I decided the best time to start was April 15, 2009 at the Tea Parties. I just returned from attending the amazing Nashville Tea Party on Legislative Plaza. It was a HUGE crowd.

It was AMAZING! A sea of people focused on Liberty! There was so much excitement!

I'll be writing more over the next few days. I'm posting some pics quickly, but I'm still headed to another Tea Party tonight in Franklin, TN.
